Post subject:  COOLING PROBLEM - HELP !!!!!
HELP !!!!

OK..... I finally got my Duster back together

1) Flushed rad --- done at radiator shop. They assured me it had no blockage !
2) new hoses
3) new water pump
4) new thermostat - hi flow.
5) 50/50 anti freeze

I ran the engine and after it got hot, I did NOT see any water running in the
top of the radiator. The temp went up to almost over heat. The top of the rad. was VERY hot to the touch while the bottom hose was COLD. I had the heater on in the car and it was pumping out tons of hot air.

NOW WHAT ?

It sounds like water is not pumping through the engine. :cry: I would take out the thermostat and see if you get flow. I would also put a garden hose in the thermostat housing with the thermostat removed and the bottom radiator hose removed. Water should flow through the block without the engine running. Maybe there is a blockage in the block.

I know that you have new hoses, but is the bottom hose spring reinforced? I have seen unreinforced bottom hoses collapse when hot.

Post subject:  Bad thermostat
I know it's new, but new parts are always the first thing to suspect, either because of a manufacturing defect or botched installation. I think it isn't opening. Be sure to install it with the pellet towards the flow of water.
