| Post subject: | cylinder head differences |
Hi all. I recently bought a remanufactured cylinder head for my 1979 Volare. I was assured the casting numbers were the same, but when it arrived, it had a different number. I called them and they assured me it would work on my car. Well, after some research I found out that they sent me a head that is at least 1 year older than my car, and possibly 4yrs older. (casting number 3698447-7, for 225:1975-78 ) vs. mine (casting number 4104362, for 225:1979-80). The question I have is, will there be any major differences in performance or technological advances, etc. using this older head on my car? Thanks! |

That head will work fine. The newer head doesn't have any advantages I'm aware of. Does the '447 head have air injection? If so and your current/old head does not you'll have to block off that port at the rear of the manifold face. |
