Post subject: | Ressurection of 1976 Dart Lite |
I am bringing my Dart Lite out of hibernation, with the intent of driving it daily over spring and fall, and most of summer (temperature dependant). Last runs I got were in the 18 MPG range. Carb was a problem, I am buying a new one in a day to rebuild. Basic brakes, tune, and fluids had been done. Car was "tuned up" but not in a great state of TUNE. Goals are to TUNE it up well, and shoot for 22 mpg to start. Longer term goals are 25 mpg once I have the 4 speed OD installed (Spring Project). If I can get the 25, I will have improved my MPG in daily driver duty by 40% over what I am driving now. I will report the condition of the car when the tests start, + list out the modifications made, and their influence on mpg. Planned modifications are: Electric fan - rebuild and TUNE the carb - HEI mod - premium tune up on ignition components - belly pan from bumper to K member - air intake ducting - heat shield - adjust valves - seafoam treatment - install gauges including vacuum gauge. I would really like to figure out the EGR and advance timing properties of the Dart Lite, provided the parts are still available? There are several projects that will not affect MPG but will be done: clean and grease window regulators - clean out air ducts - fix headliner - adjust steering box - restore shifter - replace trunk seal, clean and prep truck floor, eliminate rattles. |

Any pics? It'll be cool to see what kind of mileage you can get out of it. |
