| Post subject: | Windshield wiper linkage bushings |
I have a 73 Dart in the shop that needs wiper bushings. This car uses the "older" style bushings ( looks like the same as the 65 "A" bodies). These bushings changed in 74 to the kind the dealer carries. These bushings are not readily available, as far as I can see. Does any one know of a source for them? |

First year for the newer style bushing is in fact '72. Someone must've swapped older wiper motor and transmission into this '74. AFAIK nobody makes the earlier type bushings; you may have to swap back to the later style linkage. |

I thought Year One and similar had all these available. Before you could buy them, I made some from a sheet of about 1/2" thick neoprene foam rubber, maybe a little thicker? Lou |

I think they are referring to nylon bushings the wiper linkage bars pivot on under the dash. Not water seals that fit to crowl. |

That is correct. I got the pivot seal kits from http://www.engine-swaps.com/Ordered Thur nite 4:55 their time, and they arrived yesterday (Tue) Great service. |

That is what I thought, also, but my 73 parts manual (don't have a 74) shows the older style parts.

Weird. My '72 and '73 parts books show the same P/Ns as my '74-5-6 parts books, not the same P/Ns as my '71-'70-'69 parts books. Also, my '71 Dart had the old type, and my '73 Dart has the new type. *shrug* |

I'll get the Aveenco (SP?) part number for the bushing. I bought a small box of them last year to replace the ones in my 73 project. What I AM looking for (not to steal the thread)...is the bushing and clip where the long wiper arm fits on to the 3" pitman arm on the wiper motor. I think its a slide clip? the 72 was diff. than 73 I think, but they should all be interchangeable....Dan? |

The big bushing that connects the wiper transmission to the wiper motor crank arm is different depending on whether you have 2-speed or 3-speed wipers. With the 2-speed setup, it's a simple nylon bushing. With the 3-speed, it's a more complicated sandwich of parts to enable the "off-glass" (lower) wiper parking position. See here for discussion of current-production bushings that should work. I know that slide clip you have in mind; that part's the same for 2-speed and 3-speed but no longer serviced. |

Did the bushings and shaft seals, today. The bushings on the car were the later style. Can't understand, why my 73 parts manual shows the early style. |
