| Post subject: | distributor connection on 2bbl bbd carb? |
hey folks converting from clean burn to HEI and got a new non-computerized 2bbl bbd carb.. Was looking at it and don't know where the dist vacuum line connects to on this carb? can someone shed light on this. The BBD carb illustration i have don't show the dist connection clearly Better yet!, is there a BBD 2bbl carb that has a vacuum advance connection in 1983? thanks in advance |

| Post subject: | BBD dist connection |
great stuff thanks for the info. Looking at the pdf literature i couldn't find a distributor vacuum connection discussed. nor do i see any shown in the exploded views. It may be referred to under an acronmyn that i don't recognize. Not quite understanding what ported connections mean? (restricted connection or delayed) The only ported connections in the literature appear to be the egr or egr venturi ports. Would/can one of these connect to the vacuum advance of the dist? Can the distributor be connected to the vacuum amplifier? The replacement carb i purchased is an (83 BBD without the stepper motor or the ac stop solenoid or the tpi). Most all existing connections match up. I told them that i was doing the hei conversion with mech dist and i am wondering if i still ordered the wrong carb. Could it be that i should have ordered an earlier model bbd to match the mechanical vacuum distributor design/connections? Or, can it be connected to a port on the 83 bbd replacement via the egr or vacuum amp etc. Will get pics and post so that you pros can see what i got, connections etc. thanks in advance again! |

You will probably see it called out as "OSAC".Looking at the pdf literature i couldn't find a distributor vacuum connection discussed. Quote: Can the distributor be connected to the vacuum amplifier?
No.Quote: The replacement carb i purchased is an (83 BBD without the stepper motor or the ac stop solenoid or the tpi). Most all existing connections match up. I told them that i was doing the hei conversion with mech dist and i am wondering if i still ordered the wrong carb.
"Ordered" makes me think you have a "remanufactured" carburetor. Yes? If so, prepare for problems.

| Post subject: | bbd carb dist conn |
well, they said it was new, they said before they shipped it they disassembled it to replace parts that would need it because of shelf time, also bench tested. etc. I won't know until i try it. But some of the comments here are not good for carburetor rebuilding or replacements. Anyway i will face that after i find out if i have a dist vac conn of osac conn. |

couldn't for sure determine where this conn is by prints or the service book i have,so,called the carb people i bought it from. They are Carburetor Specialists in GA (678) 393-1501 they are expensive but helpful always. talk to Greg usually they said it is one the pass side, right near choke pull off, on this BBD (83) D-150 don't know if the carb is good or not as i am still looking for the coil, hei module and dist to complete the upgrade. It will take me time. i was worried that i got a carb (clean burn) that didn't have a vac conn to either the dist or the osac thanks for your help slant six dan, and, if you have other comments i welcome them. |

one other thing, The Carburetor Specialists always know which carb you have questions about. They track all carburtetors by computer and have all history and info on the one shipped to you. I find that good. We will see if it makes a diff. |
