Was reading some threads from 08' about repairing twisted cooler lines.

Yup, I got a nice twist/pinch at the radiator.

I'm moving the bracket that holds them at the bell housing and will have to undo them from the rad to get my bends right and not pinch them more.
I figure a good time to fix the pinch.

I got a big coil of extra tube right before the rad..
If I keep it solid, will a brass ferrel and compression nut do the trick?

What's the latest on flexible/rubber lines?

Thanks....Ken

www.cunifer.com if you want to make up new hardlines without becoming a hardcore alcoholic.

See here for my idea on flex lines, which I have not yet put into practice.

Been doing a little more reading on the subject. Not liking what lies ahead.

Question: Can the tranny fluid flow through the radiator be reversed without consequence?

Also...how good are the double flare tools and tubing benders that are available at your run of the mill tool supply house?

And then there is This

Thanks

 It's why I gave you two easier-than-bending-steel options.

Yes.

The good ones are fine. The cheap ones aren't worth messing with.

Yes, yes, yes…

I recently purchased a 20 buck Chinese flaring tool. Made ten flares without the reading glasses on, none of them were of any use, and additionally the 45* tapered flare deformed progressively each flare made. Took the damn thing back for a refund.

Purchased a Craftsman made in USA flare kit for 68 bucks, cut off crappy flares, and remade them perfectly. Hint; wear the glasses, and cut tubing squarely for best results. LOL

Looking back on the brake project, had I purchased pre formed lines I would have saved about 70 bucks in tools and materials over hand forming these lines, and Betty Ford Clinic fees to kick the Gin habit Dan alluded to.

Found a local shop that said they can make up hydraulic lines in about 10 minutes.
Only question is whether they have the apppropriate fittings.

So out to the garage I go to pull a line for a sample.

If it looks like a go then back for a routing plan and some measurements.

Five day weekend and great weather. 8)

The fittings are utterly standard 3/8" invert-flares. I would be shocked if your place can't make 'em up for you.
