I building a franken-ram based on a 91 D150 frame. It had a v8/727 in it. I have a /6 i plan on putting in when i find a 727 for it but I do not know what I need for mounts. I'll also be converting the truck to 4wd Are there different cross members for v8 vs /6 trucks? Or are the mounts that bolt the the engine the only difference? |

I dont know whether the K member on the trucks is different or not if not I have the truck slant six mounts. You will need the slant radiator. hoses are on different sides. Dont know what else. Frank |

I've been told up through 1993, that the K-members are still sandwich type like their older bretheren.Anybody else be able to confirm? -D.Idiot |

I can confirm. Dodge vans and trucks at least through the 80s used one K-member and the sandwich style mounts. You should be able to use the original K-member and get the motor mounts, oil pan, and matching oil pickup out of any 79-up slant six van or any 71-up (I think) slant six truck. I know the 71-78 vans used a different k-frame, but the motor mounts may be the same. In fact, there is so much clearance between the k-frame and the bottom of the block that you can actually use passenger car oil pans and pickup in the truck or van engine bay. That might give you a smidge more ground clearance if you are going off roading. |
