| Post subject: | Instrument cluster question/Killa Chrome |
Just bought a kit of the Killa Chrome. Supposedly one of the few paint products which turn out like real chrome. Kit should arrive soon as it's coming from Cali here to Tucson. I'll update you guys as to results. I'm painting my 64 dart dash parts/rebuilding the instrument cluster. Luckily I have 2 to piece together into one. Has anyone done the regulator upgrade with the solid state limiter? Do you have to remove the internal one (in the gas gauge)? Thanks |

I made my own elec. limiter using the LM7805 long ago and placed it inside the case of the old one using the case as a heat sink; gauges came up slower, but otherwise OK. RTE makes a nicer one. I'd recommend disabling the old limiter, especially if you use the RTE limiter. A LM7805 would probably be OK - the limiters would fight and the old one would win until it warmed up, then it would open and probably stop cycling, but overall it would be better to wedge a piece of thin plastic or paper in between the old points of the old limiter or otherwise disconnect it. |

That's what I thought. I also have the 7805. Thanks |
