Post subject:  Extra X-Pipe laying around should I use it?

I was cleaning my garage this weekend and I found a brand new Clifford X pipe I never used. I am using the Clifford headers going to a Y and then a single out through a flow master 40 series.

My question is, do you think it's cost effective to add this X pipe to my current setup? I have a cam, headwork, weber carb? I was thinking about just throwing the X pipe as close to the headers and then bringing it back to a Y and though my existing muffler, keeping the cost down, and using this part....what do you guys think?

Only use the X if you want dual exhaust.

An X then a Y is a waste of time and will probably hurt performance.
(you'll be adding restrictions and convolutions to the exhaust flow)

Yup, I second what Ed said. That “Yâ€￾ pipe accomplishes the same task an “Xâ€￾ pipe would with duels.

emsvitil- that makes sense, I guess the thought of having a shiny new part that hasn't been installed is to much hahah.

Hantayo13- it's the standard Clifford performance one, I'm thinking 2" maybe? Currently I have a single 2.5" from the muffler back

How about this idea: x pipe as close to the headers, then you have two exhaust pipes into a dual inlet single outlet exhaust. Reduce some drone and pick up some performance?

Sounds like a waste i dont think an x pipe would help any drone issue put a different muffler on if you have a drone problem. If you wanna use the x pipe run dual exhaust and throw the y pipe and single stuff away. If you want use the y pipe and put that x pipe away lol.

No dual inlet muffler I've ever seen had as good transition inside as a proper Y-pipe. A dual inlet muffler under the back seat is going to make for too long of primary pipes. The best you can do is to put the Y in the proper place and use a muffler with enough flow capacity.

Two 2" inlets with 3" outlet. This was a special request from a slant racer.

JUST FLIP IT AROUND FOR THE TWO TAIL PIPE LOOK OUT THE BACK!
