Post subject:  Can anyone identify this slant six

I was looking at purchasing this running engine/transmission combo on ebay. I thought it might work as a backup for my 64 Dart. It is advertised as being from a 65 Dart but with the blue color I had my doubts. The seller mentioned it had the 3 freeze plugs which would indicate it was a pre-67. Here are a few pics. If someone can let me know if it would be compatible with my 64 and what the value might be I would very much appreciate it.

Looks to me like a pre-'67 engine dressed for service in a '62-'66 A-body and painted a shade of blue never factory-applied to a Chrysler engine.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like it will work. I did notice the exhaust manifold uses the round counterweight.

Will the 65 automatic transmission be compatible with my 64 push button automatic as well?

You would need to swap the '64 valve body into the '65 transmission, then it will be compatible.

Thanks again! I think you saved me from a purchase I didn't need to make. The current bid is $105 but no sense in buying another engine if mine is working fine.

Why not just look up the engine number, then you'll know for certain what you've got.
