Ok lets say a giuy has a stock 1968 slant six Dodge dart that person has $1000 to mod car for 1/4 mile where and how much would such funds go to get the most improvement in 1/4 mile times remember $1000 only. thanks for any in put.. hey Olaf this was my uncles flag. it was made inthe USA but is very old  Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

Higher Compression. ($150 ish) Using second hand items i would get a 500cfm carb. and inlet manifold. (Less than $400) I'd buy the tools and do a port and polish job myself (100 - 150?) I'd get some second hand headders and forget about the rest of the exhaust (that possible for drags) ($60) Possibly put up the rear gear alot? ($150) These prices are what I have seen/come across in australia. An easy fix would probably just be a NOS kit or a nos kit ontop of this if you only have to make one pass:P. Thanks |

Remove all un needed weight, could get the car to be closer to 1100 KG if it was a 3000 pound car. |

Everything assumes that your engine is already in good shape, with decent static compression numbers and a good electronic ignition system. If not... get those things in line first. If your concern is strictly 1/4 mile times on the track (not additional pep for daily driving) then the NOS system wins. Start there, and then do some of the other stuff. If you want to decrease your 1/4 mile times AND increase your fun driving around town, then yes, shave the head and look at fuel and exhaust improvements, as well as rear end ratio. - Mac |

Power adder. Either a nitrous system, or turbo. must do the work yourself. You have seen my nitrous system, and how it performs. That was all new parts, and a fogger system. Cost about $1,000 when I did it. You don't need to be that fancy, but I do recommend a fogger over a plate system. You can go online or swap meets and find used fogger systems/parts from V-8's. for decent prices. Just remember you have to refill the bottles. |
