If I win at Elk Creek, and don't break anything, I will be there. Otherwise it is a maybe. |

This is a guy that wasn't going to come to any races! Now he may make it to 3, 2 day races! Maybe he is looking for a championship!! Rick |

I'm getting my 66 Valiant ready for Knoxville, don't have time to fix the Cuda. Planning on being there. Planning on trying for either the B or C nitrous record, depending on car weight. |

Gary Bruner called and said that Charlie Schmid won last night. Gary was Runner-Up. Very small car count for this one. Gary Bruner Meril Bruner Lukus Bruner Larry Chesney Charlie Schmid I'll call him later to see what the results for today are. |

Wish I was there. My leaky torque converter discovered at the last minute sinched that. It should be ready for Bristol. Way to go Charlie. This may put him in the points lead. I think Garys daughter Cortney and Larrys wife Ellen raced Fri as well. Tks Ron |

Yes, you're right Ron. They did race. Gary didn't mention that the first time we talked. So, there were 7 racers (5 race cars and 2 street cars). Ellen drove Meril's '67(?) Valiant and Courtney drove Gary's '64 Valiant. Gary called me last night to let me know that he had won Saturday (Ellen was Runner-Up). With a 30 point race both days that would give him another 52 (Runner-Up & Win) to add to his Elk Creek points, so if my math is right he would be tied with you for 2nd with 84. I'll wait for the complete rundown before I update the "Championship" thread. It was 10:30 last night when he called and I was still painting the basement, so I figured I'd wait until this morning to post something. I'll call them a little later to get the full rundown and post it. Sorry you weren't able to make it. |

Congrats to both Charlie and Gary! Wish I could've been there too, but had another thing going this weekend, planned way back. We should check rules and attendance from last year, but these might count 40 pts for the winners. Lou |

Knoxville was a 40 point race last year.Lou Here's the note from the rules: Quote: -As an aid to planning, the winner of any Slant 6 points race will be guaranteed at least as many points as the prior year’s number of entrants would have produced (to a maximum of 40). For example if last year’s first round included 6 cars (including qualified no shows) the race would be decided in three rounds generating a 30 point guarantee for the current year. If there are enough cars to produce a four round race this year, the guarantee will be irrelevant. A 30 point guarantee will generally be offered for a race that wasn’t held in the prior year, but in a case where there is little basis to expect a five car turnout, a new race may only have a 20 point guarantee. The number of points guaranteed for a race win will be indicated on the schedule published in the SSRN
So, for points counting I assume I simply add 10 points to the winner(s).Since this is the first year for 2-day races we need to make a call if the 40 point guarantee counts for both days or just for Saturday. My opinion is that the guarantee would only count for Saturday since that is what the prior year offered. I will add this point to the "rule change thread" to get more eyes on it. I'll poke Lukus for the complete rundown from the race this weekend. |

Ron Hamby said that last year Knoxville had 8 cars (30 points) on Friday and 9 cars (40 points) on Saturday. That should guarantee Gary 40 points for his win. Still waiting on the full rundown for this weekend's races so I can update everything. Lou and Brian, please check your PMs for a question I have regarding the points for last year. Thanks! |

Sorry folks, I have been out of town until tonight. Ron Hamby is correct about the car count last year at Knoxville. The race winner on the first day last year (2010) however, did earn 40 points based on 2009's race being 40 points both days. I hope this clears up the confusion. Brian |
