OK guys-I know where the filter goes on a non-return system.Where does it go with the return line system..Mine is butcherd up and the bleed off is draining the carb.Same problem the Jeeps have if the filter is not installed correctly.For some reason I want to put it low by the pump,or block off the return and put it up at the carb where the old ones are.And its a new pump and rebuildt 2bbl carter. |

If your carb is draining down, you need to replace the inlet needle and seat. I like Daytona Parts' "DFV" design better than the old pointy-tipped variety. The 3-nipple fuel filter can be installed wherever you want, as long as the vapour return nipple is at the uppermost corner of the fuel filter as installed. |

Carb is rebuilt-had the same problem before but wanted to make sure everything was good since the truck was a basket case.I had the same problem with the same carb on a Jeep 258-had to install the fuel filter with the bleed hole up or it would suck the carb dry.The fuel lines have been hacked on this one.Basically the truck is being rebuildt from the ground up-but it was free and rust free. |

I got a trick up my sleeve to see if it works-then I'm just going to get another carb-possible with a weber instead of the carter.Like I said-it was a basket and its a carb from a 318 on it.But it needs a set of rings in it( blow by ) and going to go with a 252 comp cam( wonder if there are any lobe left on this one ) before I condem the carb to a grave. |

Dan, I am getting ready to install one of these. Do you mean that the 3rd fitting for the vapor return needs to be pointed upwards, or 'higher in elevation' than the inlet or outlet fittings?

Watch out if you replace the return lines-the factory hid a restrictor inside that 1/4 rubber hose.Or get the filter off of a 440 from Year one-that one had a membrane in it to actually be a vapor seperator and not just a return bleed. |
