| Post subject: | Rebuilding motor.. 2 blocks.. what to do? |
Hello, finally have enough money (im hoping) to do a standard rebuild. I have obtained a motor with the 2806830-1 casting, while I have a 2463430-6 IN my Valiant currently. I want to use the 280.. but not sure if the internals are good.. The motor in the car ran well but was really lacking compression and had a dead cylinder (piston has a small hole) Would my best bet be to strip the 280.. block (it looks pretty rusty inside as 2 freeze plugs were missing and oil was sludge) Clean that and use the internals of the other motor as I know they can be balanced and work as they should? Thanks for any info or suggestions!! |

Welcome to the forum. Any reason you want to change blocks? All the slant blocks are good and unless you are trying to build for some specific purpose they will all work just fine. I would use whats in the BEST shape. Frank |
