I'm gathering parts for a slant 6 bracket car. I want to use a Holley 2300 series carb. I have a 350cfm (center carb off a six pack) and a 500 (list#4412). The last couple of months I've come across two 650s (list#6425). I know it's used mostly on circle track cars and I remember seeing them on the old IHRA Super Stock Formula Three class cars (2 barrel only). For those who haven't seen one of these, they have no boosters. The main fuel dicharge is a ring of holes drilled in the venturii, like an anular discharge booster. Has anyone tried to run one of these? This carb looks like it would have poor response. Will a slant 6 give a strong enough signal to be able to leave with a 2800 stall convertor? I have a 390, 600, 660 and 750 4 barrel available but I want to run a 2 barrel.

Cecil

Unless you're gonna run a loose converter and lots of gear, I'd stay with the 350. The 500 tends to be a little lazy on the low end.
I tested a 500 Edelbrock against my 390 Holley this summer. The 390 was a tenth and a mile an hour quicker.
