| Post subject: | I'm Dennis and I'm a number chaser........... |
It all started when I was a happy bracket racer. I had a car that I could drive to the track, even if the track happened to be 15 hours away. Then I started hanging around with those evil guys from Nebraska at Slant races and caught the fever to go faster. Then they showed me nitrous and I was hooked. I knew I was in trouble, but kept telling myself I could handle it. A lot of fast passes and some broken pieces followed before I finally pulled the plug. The biggest casualty was that I am no longer a simple, happy, bracket racer. I just gotta chase numbers. Bottom line is that when I was racing a street car and winning quite a bit going slow I was happy. Now, I had the car relatively consistent in the 13:80's last night playing around and it isn't enough. Hell, it used to be I would die before I went to a Test and Tune, now it's all I want to do. It's really annoying me that the last 2 times out the car has been mired at 99 MPH. I want 100 or it's a major disappointment. So, any recovering numbers chasers out there ever make it back to successful bracket racer? DISCLAIMER! This is all in good fun. I am still a happy bracket racer and Nebraska people are not really evil. I have to remember the days when the car didn't even run 99 on spray. I was Time Only at 41 last night and had a ball. Even the wife had fun. |

I consulted the magic eight ball and when asked about Big D and a turbo it said it couldn't comment at this time. |

Naw. It's them California people you gotta keep your eyes on Mark. Mark Wayne, CC is not completely dead yet, but it is on life support. Save the stamps, we'll be down for the ICH swap next year for sure. |

The first step is admitting there's a prollem.... You are chasing some good numbers there, Dennis. Personally, I'd love to see more number chasing and less bracket perfection, but I'm also a die hard tinkerer. Took me at least 5 years to figure out that I could NOT change anything on race day and expect to win a round (slaps own hands...). Lou |

I can't get to a track often enough to chase ANYTHING! Quote: Wayne, CC is not completely dead yet, but it is on life support.
Well then put some jumper cables on that sucker and get it fired back to life! |

No, the first step is to admit that you are powerless over the altitude, the weather, and the condition of the starting line-that your life has become unmanageable due to your obession with numbers. Welcome to the club. |

Oh... one more thing... We are working with increments of time that are beyond human capabilities... so we get pissed when we can't cut consistent .00x RT's. Here's a thought, get someone else to drive the car and you can be "crew chef"... then you can blame the driver for loosing the round. DD |

Wendell and I got a chance to run at Medford. We had exactly the same light! His was an .064, and mine was the mirror image! .064! What? The faster I go, the faster I want to go! Bob was running his Chevy in the Inliner at Medford. He has the following on his deck lid: "The older I get, the faster I went!" CJ |

I think I have the wife talked into taking the GTO to 41 next time we go. Right now, the Valiant is running in bad air what the GTO runs in good air. I'll try to get Bill to bring the video camera. This could possibly hurt some feelings on the GTO board. |

Sounds like a match race to watch. I want to see your two faces as you haul side-side down the track! Lou |
