Post subject:  Alumiweld welding rods ??
Read reviews about the harbor freight welding rods and was wonder if anyone has any experience with them ?? They seem like a great diy'er tool to have, especially for welding in injector bungs on my cliffy,

really ?? no comments ?? I figured somebody on heres tried them....... given the cummlative wealth of knowledge and age, guess i'll be a guinea pig :)

Try weldingweb.com It's an excellent welding forum with people that have lifetimes of experience

Be careful with terminology - some aluminum "welding" rods are more of a soldering thing because you don't melt the parent metals, you just use a propane torch to melt the rod into the joint. It's a weaker joint then welding but truth be told more then enough for injector bungs. Heck epoxy would be enough. Weren't there screw or press in bungs too?

Don't forget rail hold downs too.

I thought the aluminum rods with soldering was to eliminate lead based solder.
