| Post subject: | 86 Ram box swap |
Hey Slanters Got my pride and joy hit in Feb of this year. Smeared and smashed the right rear corner of my shortbox. I now have the opportunity to purchase 1 of 2 different stepside boxes. One is probably early to mid seventies, the other looks to be late 70's early 80's (as it has a fuel filler neck on the box). Am I going to have a problem doing a box swap? What problems might I encounter? Any suggestions on where to purchase tail lights? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Tail lights Box should bolt to the frame no problem, but I would get the one that matches your fuel tank configuration. |

Dang it, I thought that link took you right to the page for the Dodge pickup taillights. If you go to that website and click on the "other catalogs" button, then the "lamps, lenses, bulbs" button, then select the "automotive lamps" category, then the "lamp assemblies that fit Dodge/Plymouth" category, it FINALLY takes you to a catalog specifically for lamps and lenses for Dodge trucks and vans form 70-95. I don't know about their quality, maybe Dan can offer some advice. |

I think I need an entire assembly, so this might not help for OEM type Dodge tail lights, but the Ford/Chevy step side lights are available, and I've seen a couple of Utilines sporting them. Might go that route when I pull the trigger. |
