So far, I've been removing the lash adjuster from the rocker arm, screwing a thin locknut onto it and then doing the obvious, locknutting it in place. Since I got the motor running 3 months ago, I'm up to 4 with that treatment. |

You can squish the arms in a vice to make things a little tighter.....or if the reason they are backing off is a lot of meat milled off the head or deck....you can use shorter pushrods. |

Mine are just loose from age and many movements, apparently. I don't have a vice, and taking off the rocker arm to do that seems like a pain. Years ago, my poly 318 had the same problem, but those were cast rockers, no squeezing them was possible. I ended up using a washer under the hex on top and it just happened to make it tight at the proper clearance. I've been quoted $50 + shipping for a rebuilt rocker arm assembly, but how are they "rebuilt"? |

the adjuster set from isky for a 426 hemi work... they have a lock nut and allen head... they are a little tall with higher lift and hit the baffle but thats an easy fix... think 1.25" long |

I used to be a mechanic... worked in a diesel shop for 13 years. Now, I have no shop, I lost all my tools ( 3000 worth of Snap hand tools alone) to theft, I don't even have a carport to work under. Lou So, sorry, no vice. It's a pain, but I rent and have no choice. |

Wow, that is terrible. When I had just a carport in a rental apt in SoCal (6 yrs), I got a hold of an old army footlocker and bolted a Sears vise to it, then filled it with 250 lbs of rear axle and engine parts and locked it. Nobody gonna walk off with that. Lou |

my car came with the jam nuts already installed, being a mopar newb, i thought they were suppose to be there. the vw's have them, those germans sure know how to build a motor  theres never a adjuster problem, unless you buy cheap unhardened adjusters from EMPI and they get eaten away in less then 5 minutes
