Has anyone used them on their A Body? I have a 65 Valiant with 2 bench seats that are beat to hell.

Anyone have a cheap idea to cover them without upholstery work?

ebag is a good place to look, search: universal bench seat covers.
Look for the highest "weight" (thickest) fabric you can afford.

I've installed several bench seat covers over the past fifty years, and they are easy to install. The quality depends on how much you are willing to spend.

The only special tool you will need is hog-ring pliers.

While you are at it, you will probably want to replace some springs, especially in the driver's seat. The spring material is inexpensive, easy to install, and available at any upholstery shop and some fabric stores.

Too bad you don't have factory buckets; I have a set of blue Legendary covers I will not be using.

I am interested if these are any good as well!
I was recently looking at those ones at the top link. They don't look anything like what would go on an A-body! Three headrests on the back seat? Yeah, they're definitely universal. As for the second one looks like it should fit a bench but might have to do some cutting so you can fit it underneath the area where the switch goes to flip back rest.

Bench seat covers intended for small pickup trucks work well on the early A body benches. I like heavy cotton weaves, not polyester.

I bought one of http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 418wt_1270 these today.

I'll let you know how it fits on the front. If it goes well, I'll probably get one for the back so that I don't have to spend $400 on seat covers.

Mrs. said that the seat cover came today in the mail. I'll takes some pictures of the install tonight. If you don't hear from me it means that I got frustrated, got drunk and am probably laying in the dark in my driveway.

Ok, I didn't take any pictures because I ran out of daylight, but the seat cover was a huge success from a cost/benefit viewpoint. The top was a bit too big, but for $25, I'd tell every person with an A Body to get this unless you have a ton of cash for brand new upholstery on your seats.

I'm buying another for the back now...I wanted to try it out on the front before I bought the back. I figured $25 wasted would be better than $50.

Will post some pictures tomorrow when I get to the office and the sun is shining.

Cool! Can't wait to see how it turned out!

Those vinyl upholstery covers are quite expensive and I REFUSE to pay a ton for them!

Has anyone seen a front seat cover that will fit my '80 Volarie 4 door?
