Post subject:  1962 Savoy with fresh air vent rot
I'm trying to fix the leak in my '62 Savoy. Water is coming in through rust out under the dash from the fresh air vent. I've pulled the dash, cleaned everything out, painted the not-so-bad areas with rust-buster and have cut out the rust and am ready to put new metal in to replace the really bad spots.

My question is if the Savoy drain on the passenger side would be the same 'ripple' that is pictured by 'wjajr' that thread? I'm thinking that it is, but I'd love to get confirmation before I put everything back together.

Also, when I pulled the kick panels out there was no plastic sheeting behind it. Should the '62 have any plastic there? If it wasn't there originally, will I cause a problem if I put plastic there?

Thanks for any advice- I'm glad to be back on this forum after a long hiatus... my '62 Valiant wagon was totalled years ago and this is really the first problem I've had with the Savoy!

Haven't seen plastic in this location on any old Mopar I've pulled apart.

I have never looked at a 62 Savoy’s cowl so I can’t comment on it. I have only seen one or two Savoy’s around these parts at shows.

However after rereading my post you hot linked, I need to amend my previous statements regarding the finger sized clean-out hole. A bodies constructed post fire wall rubber flap style clean-out all appear to have the little hole, as well as the pucker.
