Hi - I have a replacement rear axle and housing for my truck that I discovered had a damaged bearing housing. The end play adjuster has been damaged and I would like to replace all the bearing and seals while I have it all apart. This kit seems like a good deal assuming it comes with everything in the picture:

It looks like the bearing are not tapered... does this mean that you don't need the end play adjuster? Anyone have any experience with this conversion?

I have also seen the complete original style kit for sale but these are runninng around $150.

The axle (flanged) and housing are from a 72 D100 and are going in my '62 D100 town wagon which has a 741 diff if that makes any difference.

Those would be the so called "Green" bearings, and they do not use the adjusters. You also need to make sure that if your diff has a cross shaft in the center of it you take it out. You should be able to see it if you look in the side of the carrier where the axle goes in.

Yes. It will be 2 halves held together with a roll pin.

The lower, right image shows the center Axle Thrust Spacer.
FYI... The factory tapered axle bearings are stronger and longer lasting then the "Green" bearings.

Hi, Thanks for the help so far. I now have the entire rear end out of the truck and am looking at the 741 unit (probably circa 1962). I don't think it's the same as what Doc posted above. I believe this is my set-up:
