Post subject:  FSM's for trucks question

I haven't bought my truck yet; still on the fence. I suspect it'll be mid 80's for a number of reasons. Anyhow, my question is, if I buy an FSM for say '86 will it basically cover 85-87? I know there are subtle changes year to year, and that I'll always be well-advised to by the FSM for the year in question. But for the mid-80's, aren't all these trucks really, really similar? I can only think of the Leanburn move from the air cleaner housing to the fender, and maybe the 6145 feedback carb (CA emissions, unlikely to be found on this coast--and unlikely to still be installed at this date).

Yes, they are more or less the same. However, lean-burn did have minor changes from year to year, so you would be best served to get the truck then get the factory service manual for that specific year.

Alright, I'll hold off on buying the CD--for now. And see if I can score a lower cost print one of, well, any model. There's a bunch of bits I'm not familiar with, and I just want to flip through one.

Thanks.
