Will be taking the car to the Alignment shop next Monday. But I want to have it tied down correctly while transporting. Looking of your input on the best way to tie it down. I have 2 new ratchet straps and have time to get anything else I need. I just don't want to reinvent the wheel.

Are you using fixed straps or chains on one end and ratchets on the other?

And where are you making your hook -ups?

Ryan has a new flat trailer with side hooks front and back. May be some in the front too.

Thanks for your help,

Rick

I have a couple short tiue straps with eyes on both ends that I loop around the rear axle and hook my short chains to. Ratchet straps for the front end hooked to the strut rods.

My trailer has loops on the front, stake pockets on the sides, and loops in the deck just behind where the rear axle sits.

2 pairs of the short tie straps makes life a ton easier. :D

I sewed myself up some tire baskets out of 2" poly truck strap last summer. I made one per wheel . Each basket has its own belt ratchet.

It is the fastest , easiest , safest way to tie down I have ever used. I can fasten my car down in under 5 minutes.....never have to retighten.

I like holding the tires to the trailer and letting the suspension do its job.

I figured the total cost to be about $50 and 1 hour sewing.

Rick, Do you have Frame connectors on the car?

I cannot tie the front of ruster down because of the front air dam etc..
THe staps would pull the plastic bits off the car.

I put axle straps on the frame conncetors in the front..and run the tie down through 2 D rings to the front of the trailer.. WOrks for me..

I like sandy's idea as well!

I do have frame connectors. So i could use them if needed.

Dennis, it sounds as though you would be compressing the suspension in the front by pulling down on the strut rod. Is that correct. I think that was my real question. Is it best to draw down the suspension, or hook to something that won't compress. Maybe around the lower control arm or something. Maybe it isn't a big deal either way.

Yes, the front suspension is somewhat compressed. Real drag racers tie down and compress both ends to keep from beating up the shocks while towing.
