| Post subject: | Thoughts on Timing Chain Upgrades |
I would appreciate some input on "Timing Chain Upgrades" from stock. The car is a 1964 Dart GT(stock 225) automatic(904) I am rebuilding the engine for a daily driver, no cam changes, possibly a 2 barrel intake and Dutra Duals in the future. The stock chain has a very small amount of play in it after 182k, the engine has never been rebuilt and nothing seems to have an excess amount of wear. While I have it apart I would like to upgrade things that have advanced since 1964. Electrical systems and lighting are on the list, even though everything works.(yeah I know, don't fix it if it's not broken...)-Thanks Dan |

SEARCH feature on this forum is wacky! Type in "Timing Chain" get a crazy amount of results(most not useful) Type in "Chain" and get exactly what I needed. http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... ight=chain There is a wealth of information here, I just need to learn how to find it. Cloyes Timing Sets are what they sell at NAPA here. Close and Available. |

If you just ask for the cloyes set you will get a metal single silent chain just like you are replacing. If upgrading to the double roller, you'll need to either get in on another group buy, check e-bay, or order the 3 individual parts in that linked thread. Note that sometimes the parts may not come up as Cloyes but can be had under other brands depending on who is boxing them that month...-D.Idiot |
