My engine is just about rebuilt, and this weekend will be my installation time. In the meantime, with an empty engine bay, and an engine that's soon to go in, I figured I'd change the motor mounts. They're probably original, etc.

Big problem, though. The ones I ordered just do NOT look the same. Pictured below are the two "new" ordered ones, with one taken off the actual car. Then, below that is the driver's side mount. (notice how the bolt pattern isn't even the same)

Then, here's the passenger side one mounted to the car:

As you can see, the ones I have are WAAAAYYYY thicker. Plus, the driver side one on the car doesn't match either of the ordered ones. So what should I do? Get my money back? Were the wrong mounts installed in the first place?

Curious.

Yes, those do look like what I should have (like my old ones). In the top photo, the top 2 ones are what I received. WTF?

Not entirely sure.

The ones in the photo are poly examples that Fopar installed on his '63.

Go to the FAQ, and down at the bottom you will find 62-66 Poly mounts.

For a daily driver, buy a soft durometer set. For performance applications, the normal ones are fine. I have a set of the standard, and a set of hard performance ones from him. The standard set is still a bit stiff by all reports. Talk to Johnny about what you want. They aren't inexpensive, but you should never need to replace them again. :D

Donno where you ordered your new mounts, but they're not correct. THey look like B-body mounts, probably low-quality ones. Get the good mounts from www.polybushings.com (and yes, you want the soft-durometer ones).

Put in a new trans mount while you're at it. That one comes from www.engine-swaps.com , their part number "TMA".

Wow. Didn't realize these were so expensive ($119 plus shipping). The ones I bought were $23! Of course, they were wrong, but...

The engine's going in on Friday, so it's looking like I'll be using the old mounts.

This is a safety issue. Get the good mounts.

Well, spoke to Johnny at polybushings, and he's got none in stock. He says he's just about to get some going again, but it will be a few weeks.

Just in case anyone's looking for them... :)

Just got an email back from the original mount seller. He claims that the mounts I am looking for, namely WM2303 and WM2304 (or A2303 and A2304) are for Valiants with a 170!

So either I have a 225 sitting on 170 mounts, or he is completely wrong (my thinking). At any rate, those Motor Mount part numbers do bring up some guys on Ebay if anyone's interested in future. They aren't poly, but they are $15ish each.
