I know that early and the later 67 up oil pans are different,but are the oil pickups? What makes the later pan non usable in the 66-early cars ? |

Question along the same line: to put a 1974 engine in a 1964 car(DART), do you need to change anything other than the oil pan and pickup?(do you need to chage the pickup?) |

The sump on a 67 and up SL6 A-Body oil pan is more forward and hits on the K-frame. See this thread for more details: http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... n+pictures As for swapping a 68 and newer SL6 into a early vehicle, you may need a different flywheel (manual shift) or a "spacer" for the back of the crank to adapt to the smaller torque converter pilot hub. keeping the original 904 automatic(1964) and putting in 1974 225 SL6, differant size Torque Converter? Oops...re-read "pilot hub"! |
