I am planning to install a A833OD in my '71 D100 /6 3spd. I have found a transmission but not a OD bell housing yet. I have a '70 /6 aluminum bell (still in a car) and was wondering if it could be modified for the A833OD? I have the ability to bore the pilot hole bigger and weld/modify for the non-existing trans holes. I have the trans in hand but do not have the bell housing so don't know if there is material to bore the hole bigger and add the needed bungs/holes.

Thanks

I dont think that bell will be easy to modify - Maybe post a pic?

I think your best bet is to get the 75- up Aluminum multi pattern bells - It will save a bit of hassle and are easy to find on ebay.

Good luck

Greg

Maybe your current BH is the multi-pattern one?

Where are you located? The correct bellhousing is generally pretty easy to find. www.car-part.com

Thanks for the info, I didn't know if anybody had tried this mod before. Without a stock bell to look at I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to do. I guess I will keep looking for an OD bell.

Thanks for posting that. I have both aluminum ones and couldn't figure out what for(aside from the remnants of Chrysler red overspray on the single pattern bellhousing, I could date it but it could not be denotated. They do seem to have different shields though.
