I finally have the engine cleaned up and painted. New Holley 1945 carb, 75' 225 with 64' sheet metal. I plan to modify the air cleaner base to accept the early model air cleaner top. The radiator has been done and the transmission rebuilt. I also have a Scarebird disc brake kit going in after the engine runs and I get to have some fun driving it. The brakes work for now so I plan to do the disc conversion in a couple of months. If I feel that the power is lacking I may install a new Carter BBD that I have around. I don't understand the amount of time people waste on old crappy carbs, I buy new or NOS whenever the budget allows. Photo's later when I have more time.

If you are not going to run A/C, I would recommend taking off that fan and installing a standard 4 blade piece. That fan you have will take alot of power to spin.

Other than that, it looks GREAT!

That's to keep the NSA from reading the Slant's brainwaves.

That was the plan, I may have to go to plan "B" now that my secret is out.

Progress, engine installed. Transmission too, one small holdup is the speedometer pinion seal. The only source that I know of is Torqueflite Patty. Unless I find another source I will order his seals tomorrow. Napa says that they have it but it is the later seal.

I made up a new air cleaner based on the centurion model.

I had trouble getting the radiator in with the big fan. Four blade going in with an electric fan assist for the AC. Probably better anyways. Is a quarter inch enough clearance between the fan and radiator?

Gees brian, that's a great job that you're doing there - Kermit would be proud of ya!
Sorry I'm not clued up on the fan clearance so maybe you should shoot a PM to Dan?

It's a great thread, any more pics available since your last post?
Congratulations on some good work.
Regards
Gary

Post subject:  Asta

I haven't made much progress since the last post. New job has me busy, but that is good news, the funds to get the Dart running are soon to be here. I'm thinking that the fan is good for now, I have an aftermarket radiator designed for a 65 installed and its a 2 inches wider than the old one and a little thicker. I just cut off the passenger side radiator mount and welded it back on 2 inches over. The 4 blade fits okay but with the 6 blade installed it is almost impossible to get the radiator in with out damage. I will need an electric pusher fan when the ac goes in. The lower outlet comes out in a non-stock angle so I have to find a new hose by matching the old one. I did the original radiator upgrade probably 8 or 9 years ago so its hard to remember all the specifics.
I've decided to name the car after a great dog of mine that passed away the day after Christmas last year. He also belonged to my friend Tasha and was named after a famous dog actor. Asta, the Thin Mans dog.

Kermit in better days. Never a beauty queen but full of personality. Always a crowd pleaser.
