Today's the last day, but if you're in the area, it's worth a go. Muscle cars, hot rods, motorcycles, militaria, WWII war birds, live music, steam-powered vehicles, early gas engines: lots to see. I went yesterday. There was the usual assortment of P-51 Mustangs and Ruskie prop planes plus a Douglas C-47 "Sky Train" (as seen in the "Band of Brothers" D-Day para drops) that you could walk through, a Douglas A26 "Invader" and a Lockheed PV-2 "Harpoon". The "Blastolene Brothers" were there with a couple of their latest, over-sized creations. Good sprinkling of Mopars, even a couple of slants one of which sported a 4-bbl intake (can't remember if Clifford or Offy) and ceramic-coated Dutra duals. Doubtless belonged to somebody from this board, although they didn't seem to be in the vicinity of the car when I saw it. Cross-ram max wedge and several Darts, Vals, 'Cudas and B-body muscle cars. Some Mopar "tailfinnage" from the late '50s and early '60s. Also a few '30s and '40s Mopars , both stock restos and rods. And, as usually, the Bowtie Brigade and Blue Oval Boys were out in force (for those of you who like "that sort of thing") If you can't make it today, look for it again about this time next year: it's always a fun show. |

Walk through this puppy and then re-watch the D-Day airborne assault scenes in "Band of Brothers". Gives you a whole new appreciation of just how vulnerable those guys were over their drop zones: the skin on these things provided zero protection from flak shrapnel. Dream Machines is a great show. This is the first year I was not there showing a car in 19 years. We moved from Half Moon Bay to Paradise CA last year. |

I had missed the last year or two. Seemed like a slightly smaller crowd this year, but then I went on Saturday instead of Sunday for the first time, so maybe that's just a less-busy day. Yeah, it is a great show because of the diversity of what's on display. It also catches some different cars from further north and east of what I see at the shows in my local area. |
