I've a 68 Dart 270 - 225/six with 13" white walls (that gotta go). I've got my eye on a set of original SBP 14" rally rims refinished with rings but no centers. I can order new centers for about $200. For the cost of these combined I could get a new set of rims. I do like the look of the pre '72 rally rims(with a set of T/A's) Not sure what to do. I'd like to do a brake conversion next year as funds allow. I'm doing a super six setup this summer and pretty much have most of my parts. I know 14" is original size but am I limiting my options down the road for brake conversion or rear end change. Is 15" a better option? Stick with 14" original rims? Any comments appreciated |

You have a lot of options here. One would be to see if you can get some nice looking centers for the Rally wheels. Try the parts wanted area. Never know! Aftermarket wheels for SBP are pretty slim pickings. Just not a lot of options. LBP opens up more options. Many more options. Bigger brakes like bigger wheels. 14" will put you in a postition to install some OEM disk brakes. Doing a custom disk brake conversion is always an option. I went with non-power OEM Disks on the Valiant. That being said, I run LBP F-body wheels on the Valiant. (Wider) With the beauty rings on there, they look pretty good. Far from custom, but you just don't see them much. For a rear end, I installed a Ford 8" from a 1971ish Maverick. Drop in. Couple that with a custom built drive shaft with a ford rear U-joint, and I buy over the counter repair parts instead of playing mix and match to build a conversion U-Joint. (The conversion U-Joints are to use a Ford driveshaft on a Mopar rear.) For Linda's '63 I have a set of SBP Rally wheels. They really do look awesome! 2¢ CJ |

The biggest question that I see, is what disk brake swap do you plan to do? I'm only aware of one that retains the small bolt pattern. Everything else would require new wheels when you upgrade brakes. Keep that in mind before you drop some coin on new wheels... |

Thanks for the great input guys. I think I'm gonna hold off until Super Six is done and see where I am. Just don't want to drop all that coin until I know for sure. For sure I want to do a disc brake conversion as drums are not what I want. |
