Okay, I have been running an Offy 4v intake on my mostly stock slant with a Weber 38DGES for awhile now, but I need to replace the Offy intake (big vaccum leak) with the Clifford intake. I have the Clifford 2 to 4v adapter, but the Clifford intake has no provision for the pcv. I don't think the Weber carb does either. So, should I drill and tap the Clifford intake? Let me know something guys, this is my ride to work. I can have the Volare down for a couple of days if I have to. Thanks!!! |

Wes, All fords of the era, whether pintos or larger horses used an adaptor under the carb to provide the 3/8" nipple for PCV...Most after market Holley's have this in their base plate (e.g 8007-390 cfm, 1850-600 cfm)... Ford only carbs like the 6299, and 1848 have no provision like this and require a spacer with this nipple. On the weber equipped Pintos and Mustang II's that base plate serves 2 purposes...1) PCV source, 2) adapt the weber for use with a Holley 2300 manifold bolt pattern. Currently my '73 duster has a 1/2" spacer with the 3/8" nipple under the Holley 6299 carb... This might be an easy to buy/adapt item at O'Reilly's rather than trying to modify the manifold. If I'm at my shop Saturday I'll snap a pic or two. -D.Idiot |

Thanks for your response DI! I have an adapter plate that allows a Weber carbg to bolt on in place of a Carter 2v. So, it looks like I may be able to adapt something using this plate. The threaded hole looks smaller, but I'm guessing that I could use some brass fitting that would work. Okay, on the offy intake, I had installed heli-coils in the threads, and then studs into those. One of the studs came loose, I used JB weld, it has not worked long term, and here I am. I think that there is a moral to this story somewhere... Thanks for your response, I'll let you know how it goes. |

Well, on the adapter plate that I have, it has a threaded hole which could be used for the pcv. Unfortunately, anything sticking out of this hole will interfere with the operation of the carb. Hmm... |

Okay, the Clifford will not fit, unless I whack it in there, or do some more grinding. The Offy intake will not seal, I have a couple of 1bbl intakes, but no 1bbl carb. I have a hacked up 1bbl intake, which I've thought about modifying for a 2bbl carb. So,I gotta hitch a ride to work again today. Anybody have a good Offy intake that they would like to sell?

Wes, they do make thread inserts that take a bigger hole than a Heli-coil. You can drill and tap the bad hole bigger and still end up with a 5/16" stud in it.
