I searched the Tech Articles for some help on this but I am not seeing anything. Any suggestions for bleeding the hydraulic clutch system would be appreciated. I am not seeing bleeder any where on the system. I filled the reservoir several weeks ago hoping it would self bleed and it has not worked.

If it has a bleeder, it might be small, like an allen head set screw on the slave cylinder. If not you might try "back purging"- gently push the clutch release lever toward the slave cylinder then release (it should slowly extend). Wait a couple minutes the repeat. That sometimes works.

look around incomeing line on slave...should be a bleeder...if not try loosening line and let it gravity bleed/might also use it as bleeder as back pushing slave

Thanks everyone for the tips! I was looking for a bleeder like on a brake cylinder not a set screw. I am going to work on the truck this morning before this heat rolls in and hopefully I can get this done.

I did find a set screw at the front of the slave cylinder and started the bleeding process. It could take a while but I will keep trying. It is almost 100 deg. here right now so I am taking a brake. Thanks for all your help!

Not having good luck with bleeding process. I could be doing it wrong. I have my son push pedal in as I open bleeder screw,he holds it down as I tighten it then he releases pedal. We repeat process the same way. If either of the cylinders is bad will they leak? I am not seeing leakage but just thought I would ask.

I would try to 'pump' the clutch 3-4 times then crack the bleeder... tighten, release clutch repeat... Same as brakes, altho it has always seemed to be a harder PIA to do the clutch than the brakes... I have seen them never bleed before... Did you kit the master cylinder side or the slave cylinder or both? or are they replacements? I have 'helped' it along by cracking the line @ the slave until you have a fair amount of dripping going on. (usually doesnt take that long, but dont let the reservoir run out of brake fluid.

Mine is a 64 but I'd bet the same principals apply. I never had any luck pumping the pedal. Get a vaccum bleader. Either way, open the bleeder screw 4 seconds then close it. Repeat until all the air is out. The manual says is causes a "swirl" in the slave cylinder that brings the air to the top. I spent days bleeding mine until I read the manual.
