Post subject:  Need resources: MPFI + Turbo

Hey guys,

I need some help. I'm wanting to turn my slant to mpfi w/ turbo in the future (far future?). What are some good resources that I should read? I'd prefer books to reading online but will do both. My current understanding of mpfi and turboing are basic but I need to know it inside and out before I'll feel comfortable laying down money for parts (new or junked). I especially need to understand how mpfi and turbos work together, sizing injectors, sizing turbos, etc.

I've read Dibiase's and Bryan Long's articles on here and have been reading the megasquirt manual. All have been very informative. I'm just finishing up Dan's recommended books but electric fuel injection is only a paragraph in storkel and petersen (As I would expect from books printed in 1974). I just need to know what is out there, how it works, the theories behind it and how they are execute.

Anyone read "Perfomance Fuel Injection Systems" by Matt Cramer or "Street Turbocharging" by Matt Warner?

Thanks for any and all help,
Aspen76

A little dated now, but it covers the basics and all the sensors and who the major players are in the EFI field would be Ben Strader's "Building and Tuning High Performance Electronic Fuel Injection".

There are some good tuning tips and how to work with the fuel and timing map.

I recommend going to msefi.com and looking at the current "megamanual." They explain a lot of basics there. Two of my cars run MegaSquirt and one of those is turbo'ed.

I've read Street Turbocharging, and as for the other book...well, I'm a bit biased. :D I did put in some rules for how to size injectors based on horsepower in there.

Maximum Boost by Corky Bell is also very good, but limited EFI stuff.

Very cool guys, thanks for all the responses.

I think I'm going to check out all the options put forward. I really like that the author of a book on EFI posts on this forum, really cool.

Matt, your book is an absolute on my shopping list, especially after reading all those reviews on amazon, would seem to be the Bible on EFI. 4.9 out of 5 stars with 35 reviews, well done sir! :)

Any and all other suggestions are always appreciated. I'm always looking for more night time reading

Thanks guys,
Aspen76

If you only get one book, get Matt's, and take the advice to read the Megamanual.

Hey guys,

I just wanted to post back regarding this. I haven't read anything on turbo charging yet but I just finished Matt's book on EFI and I have to say it was extremely informative and a surprisingly easy read. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Now all I need to do is get a lot of money together to move my Aspen to MPFI :)
