Remove all six spark plugs and use an oil squirt can or long-tube squeeze bottle to squirt a couple of tablespoons of 5w30 engine oil into each spark plug hole. Reinstall the plugs. Remove the oil filter and squirt a pint of oil down the central hole on the oil filter mounting base of the oil pump (use a slim screwdriver to depress the check valve if one is present, which you'll know if the oil quickly fills up the central tube). Squirt some oil down the other hole on the oil filter mounting base (alongside the central one).

Make sure the engine has a large, good quality oil filter (not a fram -- a Wix 51515, NAPA Gold 1515, Purolator L30001, etc.) and five quarts of 5w30 oil in the crankcase, then start it up.

Unfortunately its not a sbc where you could prime it with a drill motor, but lucky its not a vw because there no way to get to the oilpump with out some surgery.

A good engine builder would use the right lube to assemble. I use what ever oil the motor will use mixed with lucas oil. And on cam/lifters i smear the hell out of them with moly grease and my mixed concaucion. I've had a vw motor built and sat for 2 1/2 years then tore it apart to change out cam and all the oil was still where it needed to be. That lucas makes it stay put. Also on any oil pump that will alow me including slants, i pack the pump with moly grease and a couple squirts of my concaucion.
