Okay well I have made a decision about what I want out of this engine. I am going to spice it up. I am looking to try and get as much as I can out of it naturally aspirated.

I do have a Early A Body 65 Automatic Barracuda so I know if I want to go to a double or quad carb I am going to need to change the pedals so I can get a cable drive. What else might I have to do to get there? Like changing pistons/camshaft/block or head shaving etc etc.

Hipo engine:

Shave block and Head (measure and calculate desired results for SCR)
Camshaft change (check advance and grind for desired DCR)
OS valves, new springs, and porting work for head
New intake manifold and carb per desired build.
Decide on single exhaust manifold (slightly warmed up),
Split Stocker (somewhat warmed up), Headers (all out
race unless you live in warm year round place).

1965 Car:

Upgrade brakes to something other than drums.
Replace suspension bushings, upgrade torsion bars.
Replace rear axle to HD version-change to kinder rear ratio (3.23?)
Have your A904 overhauled for use with better than a stocker.
Replace U-joints unless already new.

Accelerator pedal/Kick down adaptation to fit new carb.

New Exhaust pipe to match new manifold configuration:
single pipe-2.25"
dual pipes- 1.75"-2" more or less...
Headers- Will go dual to single pipe in earlier A-body then can exit as fat pipe or back to duals if out for the looks.

Before you get here, have you determined your 'budget'?

What is SCR and DCR?

Any suggestions on camshaft, os valves? As for budget I am focusing on the engine first because I can always tune it down until some of the other upgrades are done. What kind of budget and or level of importance should I be looking at?

I planned on the porting work.
I heard you could use 318 springs on a slant six.
I think initially I am going to stay with the stock manifold and single carb because changing that is easy and will be easier on the wallet at first.
I am planning on the scarebird brake upgrade because I have stocker 14" wheels and would like to stay with them for now.
I have been wanting to do the torsion bars.

I have upgrade the single exhaust to 2.25 already.
Suspension bushings have been upgraded.

SCR is Static Compression Ratio, its what everyone brags about that their engine has, DCR is Dynamic Compression Ratio, its what your engine really has for compression, taking into account your camshaft selection.

Thank you for that. I was sitting here thinking about it and realized it was compression ratio. So I did a google search and found some info on it.

I would concentrate on upgrading suspension and brakes making car safe, and able to hold its own in today’s traffic. Once you get her handling, and stopping real good then add power.

The front disc brakes and torsion bars upgrade are the only suspension upgrades that have not happened yet. One saving grace is I live in a small town so traffic is a minor concern.
