Very bad news with the Toad.... bought a complete and rebuilt 73 /6 from one of our /6 guys. I've had the engine for over two years waiting to be installed. The installation is complete but when we tried to rotate the crank it was frozen... somehow water got into three cylinders and rusted solid. We measured the depth of rust and it is beyond the milling specs. What a let down! Now, moving forward..... I have a 62 block and wonder if I have it milled, can I use the crank and pistons from the 73? Did the 225 block change from 62 to 73? Thanks for your input! John Brayton 707 953-9947 |

should interchange just use the 73 crankshaft (difference in torque converter front end) early have small diameter pilot end. Richard |

Thanks Richard, The newer block had a total rebuild with a more aggressive cam and we're hoping to use as much of it as possible. Regards, John Brayton |

I just noticed you have a 62, are you using the automatic from a 60-66 or one from 67 up. Richard |

How many cylinders got rusty & pitted, one? If it's just one cylinder, have a sleeve installed and rebuild that engine. DD |

Hi Doc, The three with their valves open are rusted. Do you think it makes cost sense to sleeve all three? John |

Not for 3 cylinders... (Sleeving costs about $75.00 per "hole") Check cost to bore a different block and go that way... if about the same price. DD |

We didn't use the automatic.... went with a A833 od instead. If it's just one cylinder, have a sleeve installed and rebuild that engine. DD JB |
