My 61 Lancer is a factory 3 spd, 170
have bad synchros
considering using a later 3 spd and later driveshaft to get away from the goofy front ujoints
I know where a 69 Dart is with 3spd
Does anyone know if I could use the trans and driveshaft (probably need shortened) or would I need to change the rear end also because of the yoke.

Would the 69 rear end be the same width?
It is still the small bolt pattern I think.

AFAIK the rear Ujoint is the same size- therefore the same yoke on the axle (which should be the same width & small bolt pattern as well). Valiants have shorter wheelbase so yep, shorter driveshaft. I don't know if there are any differences in the trans input shaft, clutch disc, etc.

What you really want is a "A-230" full syncro 3-speed. These have a side cover, not a top cover.
