I was wandering what speeds a normal stock 904A transmission shifts at because mine seems to be shifting faster then normal. And what could be doing this? It is a newly rebuilt tranny, I guess about 8 months ago was the rebuild. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. thanks scott |

This is not bad if you are at half throttle. At low throttle, it could stand to shift a little earlier, but it's not a big deal. Adjusting the kickdown linkage is the way to change the shift points. Lou |

If you adjust the kickdown linkage all the way out, until it bottoms against the stop, and the carb is stopped from opening entirely, and the tans still shifts too early, you can make it shift higher, and harder by increasing the line pressure. This is an internal adjustment, and you will need to consult a shop manual for how this is done. |
