Hello from a new guy here! between me and my dad we have four S-6 vehicles and I'm excited to find this forum. A quick question: I am trying to get my dad's '64 Dart convertible back on the road, but the tranny went bad a while back and my rocket scientist brother in law pulled the tranny out and promptly dissasembled and lost 1/2 the parts. I have been looking for a year specific replacement with no luck. What year / model trannys will swap into the '64? (I have a '74 Dart with a tranny that should be rebuildable) Thanks for your time, Morgan

pre-'66 will go in there and bolt up to your cable linkages. There are some parts you can exchange from the '74 trans like the pump and clutch drums, but most other stuff will not. Where are you located? I know of a couple of rebuildable '64 tranny's in LA, CA you could have for free.

Post subject:  Rebuildable Tranny for '64 Dart

I am in Woodland, Wa. , which is just north of Portland. I also sent an email last night to Wildcat Auto Wrecking (wildcatmopars.com), which is an all-Mopar yard south of portland. I'm hoping they have a rebuildable unit because I've been wanting to make a "pilgrimage" there just for sightseeing purposes. I was just hoping to get lucky and be able to use the tranny fron the '74 as the engine is already out and it would be easy to pull. There is also a '64 parts car rotting away near my home; I've been trying to contact the owner for a while without success, but the neighbor says it had a for sale sign in it before, so I'll keep trying there too. Thanks, Morgan

A direct swap is any 62 to 64 904, a 65 trans will also work if you swap the valve body. (65s have one extra detent position for the shift linkage)
