Post subject:  removed intake/exhaust now all my vacuum lines are broke

I bought my truck with the understanding that the intake manifold was cracked, so yesterday I decided to start the tear down to figure out the best plan of attack. I was happy to find that the manifold was not cracked but that the gasket is bad and needs replaced (bonus for me!) However while I was removing everything all the vacuum lines snapped as well as the nipple that connects to the brake booster broke.

Do I need to replace the vacuum lines with the hard (ish) plastic ones or would the rubber lines be ok? Also what else do I need to worry about as I'm putting this stuff back together? Thanks!

The hard plastic lines are preferred because they don't collapse like rubber ones can, but good luck finding a set of original hard plastic vacuum lines. The guys over on www.turbododge.com have come up with solutions to replacing the hard plastic lines on their turbo Mopars where the vacuum lines are more critical. Browse around over there and see if you can't find a good substitute.

The nipple in the brake vacuum booster MUST be replaced with a correct part. I believe they are still available new from aftermarket suppliers.
