What is the difference between the 745 and 903 transmissions. I know of the 903, but don't recall ever hearing the 745 designation, before. Just noticed it in the 1966 SM, while looking up something else.

I need to check athe FSM but I think the 745 has slightly larger syncros and gears.
One of the 2 gear boxes has a small bump in the top cover, to allow clearance for the larger inturnals... I just don't remember which one.

The 745 is the larger 3-speed like you'd find in a truck and behind a V8 in cars. The A230 replaced the 745 to the best of my knowledge.

Drivetrain.com describes the A745 as: "1961-70 Cars & Trucks Cast iron, top loaded case with side shifter linkage. 6 bolt top cover with hump. Non-synchronized 1st gear with aluminum ring/pin assembly for 2nd/3rd. Main shaft 1st/Reverse gear has 28 teeth and the cluster gear has four steps."

Just curious. Was looking in the FSM, and saw the 745, but really couldn't tell the differences.
