I'm fixing to have my 904 tranny rebuilt and looking for a good street rod converter. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info out there on slant six converters. My basic engine build is below. 225 slant, .060 over bore, .060 head mill, Stainless oversized valves .170 intake, .144 exhaust, comp cam kit .440 lift 264 duration, lash set to .014 exhaust and .012 intake. Flamethrower 3ohm coil, orange box ecu, nkg plugs, carter bbd 2bbl, 2 1/4" exhaust, .020" steel head gasket. No emissions on car except PVC. What's a good stall range. 2200, 2500, maybe 2700 ? |

What's your cruise rpm? Select a converter that stalls below that number. If your looking at V8 converter advertised stall, a good rule of thumb is, the converter will stall 500 rpm lower behind a slant. Not hard and fast, so your results will vary. If you choose a converter that stalls at or higher than your cruise rpm, you will build a lot of heat. That will result in shorter transmission life. 2¢ CJ |
