Are all the wide ratio 904's lockup transmissions? |

I believe so, but you can put the gear sets in a non lockup. |

I got one from a V8 (think it was a small block) no lockup. You just need the sun gear and the planitaries you can also use the bigger clutch pack. Richard |

The above answers are both right. All post 1980 904s, 6 and 8, are wide ratio. Heavy duty post 1980 v-8 applications could be had with a non-lockup transmission, as could certain 6 cylinder applications. For example, I once owned a 1986 Dodge B-150 van built for the California market and it had a factory non-lockup 904. As has been stated above, the gearsets and clutch packs will swap right into an earlier non-lockup slant six case. Or the lockup function can very easily be disabled. |
