| Post subject: | Performance 1 BBL Carbs? |
Does anyone know of any performance 1 BBL carb options? I am not looking too spend alot of money, so I'd like to keep the 1BBL manifold. I was thinking of the Ford 4.9L carb, but if anyone has any other ideas that would be greatly appreciated. |

Performance from what respect? 1. airflow? 2. or mileage? |

Air flow, not mileage. I'm boosting the car, but I want a little more power than what the stock 1bbl would give me. |

Turbo, around 10 p.s.i, mild cam, 302 sb valves, port and polished head. |

If you are going to boost why worry about valve sizes & port and polish? Richard |

Even better flow. I want to make as much power as possible without turning boost past 10 lbs. |

It's pretty easy and inexpensive to turn a 1bbl manifold into a 2bbl manifold. Even I can do it... |

Sure read the articles posted in the article section and the Engine FAQ section. There is a lot of good information in the articles and posts on this site. |

To quote SSD: Quote: The highest-flowing 1bbl used on the slant-6 was the 1963-only Stromberg WA3. Good luck finding one.
Gonna be a toughy finding a high flow 1 barrel, 2 barrel would be good and easier to find adapt. Time to make friends with a welder.. -D.Idiot |

I'll try to find the instructions. No real special skills or tools needed. If I remember...a grinder, a drill, RTV, and a $15 Holley 2bbl adapter...can anyone tell me if I forgot anything?

I'm wondering about a Rochester Mono-Jet..... Could be the ticket for high flow. CJ |

The website carburetorsandmore.com has some nice single barrel carbs that are already rebuilt or they sell make offer rebuildable carbs. |

Have you run carburetors from that source? Most of us have had very poor results from rebuild mills. 2¢ CJ |
