Well had what felt like a miss that I could not find. Put on new plugs, wires, cap, button, and ran through the distributer and no luck. So I finally pulled valve cover to discover a bent rod and the valve lifter laying in the valley of the block. Car was in storage for a few years and fired up so I believe the valve was stuck. As I am definitely not a mechanic I did buy the service manual and so i have managed to pull the head off just wondering what else I should look at changing while I have the head off or should do. I am really not wanting to pull the whole motor out it had 95k original miles on it. Let me know what y'all think. |

Last Feb/2012, I removed the head on my '72 Valiant to have it milled to raise comp ratio and I had collected the Super 6 intake and matching carb to install, I did also take the opportunity to install a new water pump. While it was apart I wish I would have installed a new timing set. I'd recommend that since you are that far. Are you having a mechanic/machine shop inspect the cylinder head? I'd do guides as needed and valve seals as well. |

I was not planning on have anyone look at it but now that you say that I may as I said I am new to working this in depth on a motor but do enjoy learning. This will one day when complete will be my daily driver as I really do enjoy the fact that when something tears up I can fix it myself without having to take it to a mechanic to hook up to a computer. |
