I sistered mine into the power supply, ground, and lights of my gauge cluster. Only leaves one wire to run through the firewall.

Hey guys, I have a tach that I used to run on my old ford pick-up with no problems....I am now trying to install it on my '72 Duster with no positive results...just a lot of hollering and swearing. My wiring diagrams are far from helping me...it shows "typical A-body" wiring...well typical maybe in 1978, but certainly not '72. The diagrams show all this crap that wasn't even made in '72. It's not helping me at all. Well to make a long story short...I'm triggering my tach off the ground side of the coil...okay no problem. But I can't find a power source with the key-on that works...all of the power sources with the key-on are for blinkers and crap like that. Someone please help. the car doesn't have a/c, it is an automatic...base duster I guess. Thanks in advance. -Don |

You'll find your "power-on" connection on your starter solenoid. Need a good ground. Sounds like you're on the right track with the coil hook-up. Hope this helps. |

I plugged mine in to the "accessory" slot in my fuse box. Pluged the light (if you have one) into the dash lights. Eric W |

Thanks for the advice...i'll have to give it a try after i figure out what the heck is goin on with my ignition system...did a basic tune-up today...plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. I double and triple checked everything...it's all correct. I bought a new ballast resistor and installed it...as soon as i turned the key to the "on" position i watched the resistor go up in smoke...it's kinda hard to install that wrong...cranks but refuses to start...may i have a bad fusible link somewhere???? -Don |
