Post subject:  Crashed the Guzzi car

I made a warm up pass and car was a little squirrley. Then had to run for the money, gave him 1.5 car lenghts,,,car got squirlly again and I lifted and lost.Went back to pits and checked everthing and found nothing.Went and made two more passes and car was perfect ,ran a 6.72 @101.Decided to make one last pass and car got squirrley just before finish line,I didnt lift and car went from one side of the track to the other then slammed into the wall on the left front and all the way down the side.I am ok but a little banged up.Dont know if car is saveable. Will post pics tomorrow.Guzzi Mark

No one else was haveing real issues,I did switch my slicks from left to right but thats about all.I do see broken welds that I welded but I think it was caused by the impact.Pronably hit the wall around 90 mph.Broke a chromoly strut rod. They did have to pry door open to get me out.The track rescue guys seemed like the were there in seconds.Mark

Sorry to Hear that Mark, Better to crash your guzzi valiant/ lancer into the wall than a guzzi Bike..

I wish you all the best. and I am sure you will bee able to make some use of your car and drivetrain in the future.

It happens to all the hardcore racers.. Seymour, Drakes, Cox's Dale Rose.

I have seen or heard of all of those guys having bad luck and then coming back.

Take Care,

Greg

Guess you won't make the "Antiques" at Barona.

Which lane were you in? Rocky let the 'Twin get loose early out and looped'er from the left lane there at the 'Dale (fortunately he missed the walls). Looking over his videos, it looks like his car may have launched with a little bit of a roll to it, loading one hide more than usual.
Possible for yours perhaps, maybe not having full effect 'til the top end in a bodied car?
