I have a 76 1/2ton thats about to go to the junk yard. It has a /6. Does this have a forged crank? I can never remember when the cast cranks began. Also it has front disks, I don't suppose any thing there is usefull for my A body? It has a 4 speed tranny will this bellhousing work with a car tranny should I want to convert to a manual?or will a car bellhousing bolt to this block? I dont want to let anything that is of any use go. :?

Thanks,
c-dog

Definitely keep the bellhousing and tranny and all linkages. That bellhousing will bolt up to several different transmissions, and I assume you have an 833 so that's a keeper. 76 should be forged crank, but some cast ones may have started in late 76.

All Slant bellhousings/trannys will bolt up to all Slant engines of any year or type. Only difference is the crank hub size for the flywheel hole or auto torque converter got bigger in '68.

Keep all good parts, use sell or trade, it's nice to have the parts when you need them.

Does your 4 speed have a granny 1st gear? Does that bellhousing use the 11" clutch? While these parts will bolt on, they may not be desireable to use. The disk brake rotors could be the same as the 12" cars, in which case they could be used to do the big disk swap.
