Greg O got Exner G to drop off a slant six block that Greg had made race ready..but then was found to have a cracked bore...

it now lives on as a Torque Plate

http://www.flickr.com/photos/13718356@N ... 369887484/

from measuring the bore size,, it was bored .090 over.
From looking at the cut sections,,that case had a lot of end to end core shift,,( .100) the bores were consistantly thin towards the rear. Heavy on the front side.

Of the three bores that were sleeved,, they got a low as .090 on the rear bore wall and .220 to the front

Of the three parent metal bores,,, thinnest was .100 on the rear bore wall and .210 to the front.

the plate 1.5 inches thick.. that is where the measurements were taken.

Thanks for taking the time to provide this information. We don't get to see the inside of many slant six blocks. At .090 over if the bores were perfectly centered the walls would be about .15 thick which is generally said to be a thin as you want to be. Since there is always going to be some core shift, the block should always be filled at least half way if you are going to use it for racing at 3.5" bore size.

I am SO envious of the tool that was used to accomplish this. Darn, clearly I need a much bigger metal building.
